Antique Victorian Figural Butter Dish with Cow - Aesthetic Period - Middletown Quadruple Plate - Connecticut

Antique silver plate butter dish made by Middletown Silver Company of Middletown Connecticut (1864-1899). This ornate 3 piece butter dish has a figural cow finial. The top is also decorated with a Victorian Aesthetic Movement bird and fountain design. The bottom is marked "Middletown Plate Co. Quadrupleplate 435 Hard White Metal". The dish measures 6" across and is 6-1/2 inches tall. It has its insert plate that covers the top of the bottom. Condition: wear to the plating on the top of the dish, approx 20% of the area is worn. There is one dent on the rim of the bottom that measures 1/4" long along with a few tiny other dings. No other wear to the plate, the bottom and the insert plate are free of wear.
