Antique Unger Bros. Art Nouveau sterling cigarette case with smoking woman, not monogramed. This case measures 3 1/4 X 3 1/4", and weighs 2.67 OZT. It is marked "UB Sterling 925 Fine UB". Condition is very good with minor dings on two front corners, and one on the edge of the back. The case opens and closes fine and so does the bar for holding down the cigarettes.

From the late 1800’s to 1910, the Unger Brothers produced remarkable silver items in the Art Nouveau style. This cigarette case is a testament to their exceptional presence in the world of silver design. It shows an unsurpassed skill in the chasing of Art Nouveau motifs. An identical cigarette case is in the collection of The Newark Museum of Art and was featured in an exhibit entitled "Objects of Desire - 500 Years of Jewelry".
