Lovely 1930s Ostby Barton 10k yellow gold sweetheart or friendship ring with hearts and flowers design. This ring has a 6mm or 1/2ct rhodolite garnet in the center. This garnet has a beautiful medium raspberry color and is free of inclusions. The ring is currently a size 6-1/4 and is marked "OB 10K". The piece was made by Ostby & Barton, one of the most well-known jewelry manufacturers of the period. The firm was founded in 1879 and seems to have disappeared about 1950. One of the principals, Engelhart Ostby, perished in 1912 aboard the Titanic, while his adult daughter survived.
