Native American, Mexican, and Southwest Sterling Silver Jewelry

Vintage Native American squash blossom in sterling silver with kingman turquoise. This necklace measures 24" long (not including the naja). The naja measures 2" x 1 3/4". The handmade beads are securely strung on silver chain and the necklace weighs 74.1 grams. This piece is unsigned. Condition is excellent. $11.50 US or Canada ship/insure.

Vintage Navajo sterling silver pendant on chain with onyx, C1970. The pendant measures 2" by 1" and is on an 20" sterling chain. Wonderful design and signed ND. S&I will be $7.00.

1930's sterling silver Indian souvenir bracelet by an unknown maker. It measures 1" wide and the stamped decorations include thunderbirds, rain clouds, and arrows. This bracelet is average size and made to fit up to a 6-1/2" wrist. It weighs 40.9 grams, and is flexible so the size can be adjusted somewhat. The back opening measures 1 3/8", condition is excellent.

This pendant was created by Carolyn Pollack's Southwestern jewelry company, Relios. The setting is made of sterling silver accented with 14K yellow gold. This pendant measures almost 1-3/4" by 1-1/8. The back is made from a large, single piece of blue lapis. The front of the setting has an oval bezel inlaid with lapis, turquoise, mother of pearl, and spiney oyster. I'd call this design Art Deco meets southwestern. The side has the Relios trademark and is marked "Sterling 14K".

Large sterling silver pin or pendant with amusing cowboy design by Native American artist Andrew Todacheene. This large piece measures 2" by 1-1/2. It is signed on the back and weighs 25.3 grams. Navajo Andrew Todacheene has been producing jewelry since at least 1991‚ and his work was exhibited at the Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial in Gallup. His signature and mark appears on page 167 of Barton Wright´s "Hallmarks of the Southwest". Andrew's work is currently being sold at Museum of New Mexico Foundation shops in Santa Fe. Condition is excellent for this previously owned item.

Signed Zuni cardinal ring with inlay of mop, coral, and turquoise. This ring has a large face that measures almost 1 1/4" high by 7/8" wide. It is a size 6-1/2, weighs 9.5 grams, and is signed "J.J."; most likely the signature of Jerry & Joann Johnson (Navajo). Condition for this previously owned ring is very good with only minor wear.

Vintage signed Native American pin pendant with bezel set coral in shadow box. This piece measures 1-5/8" by 7/8", is signed JD STERLING and is C1970. This clever design can be worn on the horizontal as a pin or vertically as a pendant. Excellent craftsmanship and weight (8.7 grams). Barton Wright's book "Hallmarks of the Southwest" lists 4 or 5 different Native American artists who use the JD mark, so it's hard to say who made it. The condition is excellent. Vintage Navajo stick pin made of sterling silver with a god size piece of turquoise in a sawtooth bezel. The pin is unsigned, weighs 2.2 grams, and condition is great. The head of the stick pin measures 3/4" by 1/2", and the turquoise is high grade. This stick pin comes with a new silver tone slide clutch. It would be a fine addition to any mens stick pin collection!

Signed Native American pendant with orange striped agate stone. This pendant has a signature that I can not identify and is also marked "Sterling IHMJ" (Indian Hand Made Jewelry). This piece measures 1-1/2" by 1-1/4". Condition of this previously owned pendant is excellent, showing only minor signs of use. The weight of this good size pendant is 11.9 grams or .38 troy ounces. Vintage sterling silver Mexican ring with red/orange goldstone and floral setting. The oval shaped front measures 5/8" tall by 5/8" wide. The inside of the ring is marked "Mexico 925". It weighs 4.1 grams‚ is a size 6. The ring is in good vintage condition.

Signed Native American pendant with peyote bird in turquoise and coral chip inlay. This piece measures 1-1/2" by 3/4". The pendant weighs 4.6 grams and is unsigned. 1950s Bell Trading Post sterling silver brooch or concha pin with stamped design. This brooch is 1 3/4" wide by 1 1/8" tall and has an early Trading Post bell shape mark with the word Sterling. Vintage Native American sterling silver bookmark made by Hopi Dawn Lucas. This bookmark has an L-shaped top with a bear silhouette accented with turquoise. The rest has hand stamped bear paw tracks. It measures 4-3/4" long and almost 1/2" wide. Condition of this previously owned bookmark is excellent. The back has the initials "DL" and is marked sterling. According to Bille Hougart's "Little book of Marks on Southwestern Silver" this is the mark of Hopi Dawn Lucas.

Mexican sterling silver brooch with overlay design of a guitar player. This brooch has a unique shape and measures 1-1/2 tall by up to 1-1/2" wide. It is marked "Hecho en Mexico CAV Plata 925" and weigh 18.9 grams. Condition is very good.

Vintage Native American necklace with brightly colored glass beads, cowrie shells, and animal claw. 8mm red, green, and yellow glass beads are used in the front of the necklace and a 6mm size in the back. Metal silver tone spacers seperate the two bead sizes. This necklace is strung on deerskin and is slightly over 24" long. Many of the glass beads are handmade and the cowry or cowrie shells show age. C1940's or earlier.

Women's sterling Native American ring with gem grade turquoise and red coral. This ring is currently a size 7, and weighs 12.5 grams. The face of the ring measures almost 1-3/4" tall by 3/47" wide with silver accent leaves. This ring is unsigned. Large handmade ring with bezel set Nevada number 8 turquoise gem, dated 1993. The face of the ring measures 1 1/4" by 7/16" and the center stone is surrounded by beading and stamping. The ring is signed and marked ".925 JR (?) Nat. Nevada 93". I have not been able to identify the artist but the stone and workmanship are outstanding. The stone itself measures 3/4" by 1/2" and weighs approx 12 carats. This ring is a size 6-1/2 and will create a bold statement.

1930's Navajo cuff style bracelet with arrowhead accents and center bump up. This classice has a hammered finish and is in excellent condition. The inside measures 2 1/4" across and the opening in the back is 7/8" wide.

Large nielloware brooch or pendant made in Mexico. This brooch is slightly domed and is secured with a rollover clasp. Hallmarks: STERLING 925, JC, eagle mark numbered 4. Dimensions: 1-7/8”. Condition: Excellent vintage condition weight 14.9 grams.

Vintage sterling silver ring by Navajo Indian silversmith Charlie Singer. This band or wedding band style ring has a stamped eagle design that runs all the way around. It is a size 12, weighs 7 grams, and is signed with his arrowhead hallmark.

Signed C1970 Native American Zuni cluster earrings made by Alice Quam, clip-on style. The face of each earring measure 1" across and is accented with 13 coral stones. They are signed A.Q., the signature of Alice Quam. Condition is excellent with little wear.

Good size vintage sterling silver brooch with filigree border and large green stone. This Mexican brooch is marked "EME 925 Sterling Hecho En Mexico". It is 1 3/4" tall by 1 1/4" wide and can also be worn as a pendant.

Very nice pair of ladies or womens watch tips with coral and turquoise set in sterling silver made by Les Baker. These lovely tips have quality stones, kingman turquoise and dark red coral, and the floral accents are very well done. Each tip measures 1-1/2" long by 1" wide. The pair has a new stainless flex band and measures 6" in total. This length is good for a larger wrist and can be shortened for a smaller one. The backs are signed "Baker Sterling" with his early thunderbird mark. Condition is very good for this previously owned item with no problems to note.

Massive Navajo sterling silver ring with mop and turquoise. C1960's. The face of the ring measures 1-1/8" high by 3/4" wide. The sides and top and bottom of the face are accented with stamped silver beads. One of the best features of the ring it the light blue turquoise of very good quality. This ring is unsigned and weighs 19.8 grams or .64 of a troy ounce. Other than slight wear to the applied silver beads condition is excellent, with no chiped or broken stones and a solid heavy shank.

Native American sterling silver bar pin or brooch with stamped design. This pin measures 2-1/8" by 1/2" and, as is typical of the period, is unsigned. In the center is a nice natural turquoise stone. Looking at the back one can see an old "C" clasp and silver is not perfectly smooth (evidence that a silver coin was used to make this pin). Condition is excellent for this C1930's piece.

Vintage Native American ring signed B Yuselew. This ring has a more unusual conbination of traditional Zuni inlay with stamped designs. The face of the ring measures 1-1/8 by 1/2", and it is a size 7-1/4. It has inlaid turquoise, red coral, and mother of pearl. The condition is very good with only light surface wear.

Vintage 1950s Navajo ring with a petrified wood stone. The colors in the stone are dark grey and dark red/orange. The face of the ring measures 1" tall by almost 1/2" wide. It is a size 8 and is in excellent condition. Typical of the era, the inside of the shank is not signed, but the ring tests as sterling. Shipping and insurance in the USA and Canada will be $7.00.

Lovely signed Zuni pendant with mother of pearl, coral, and turquoise. This pendant measures 2-1/2" long by 1" wide and weighs 15 grams. The back is singed either "Simplicio". So this is the work of Sarah or Mike Simplicio, fine Zuni artists.

Navajo pendant with the image of Native American potter. This woman holds a stick and is drawing a design on the pottery. This pendant measures 2" tall by 1-1/4' wide and weighs 4.9 grams. The back is signed "B Yazzie Sterling" and is most likely the work of Bernice Yazzie. This pendant is on a new 18" sterling silver chain with a spring ring closure. A charming navajo sterling pendant!

1930's sterling silver Navajo tourist or Fred Harvey style bracelet by an unknown maker. It measures 3/8" wide at the center with stamped bump-up in the center. The the design also includes thunderbirds, arrows, and the Whirling log or swastika. This bracelet is made to fit up to a 6-1/4" wrist. It weighs 8.4 grams, and is flexible so the size can be adjusted somewhat. The back opening measures 7/8" and it is unmarked. Condition is excellent.

1930`s sterling silver American Indian souvenir pin by an unknown maker, very large size. The pin measures 3-1/2" wide by 1-1/4 high and has machine stamped designs and bump-ups. It weighs 19.4 grams, and is marked "Sterling". Condition is excellent with nice piece of bezel set with Cerrillos turquoise. This pin certainly will make a statement!

Large vintage silver bolo tie with stamped design. This bolo has a black leather cord with sterling tips. Measuring 3" tall by up to 2" wide, it is marked M. Begay sterling. A very handsome and attractive piece. This is a quality piece with good weight at 49.1 grams for all. In excellent condition with no problems to note.

Bold contemporary sterling silver cuff bracelet with malachite inlay made in Taxco, Mexico. It measures 1-1/4" wide at the center and this bracelet is made to fit a 6 to 6-1/2" wrist. It weighs 48.2 grams or 1.55 troy ounces. It is marked "TN-12 Mexico 925". Condition of this previously owned bracelet is excellent.

Three sterling pieces by the well known Mexican jewelry designer, Los Castillo. This suite of dove pieces consists of a pair of screw-on earring and a brooch. The pin measures 1 1/2" across and each earring is 1-3/4" in diameter. All expected hallmarks (see inset photo), C1950. Condition for all pieces is excellent.

Sterling silver Mexican ring with snake design. The face of the ring measures 3/4" across. The back of the ring is marked "ATI 925 Mexico". It weighs 8.9 grams‚ is a size 9. This previously owned ring is in excellent condition and looks great on the hand.

Vintage sterling silver, turquoise and coral woman's bracelet signed I. Yazzie, C1970. This is a sweater bracelet, meant to hand down below the cuff of your sweater. The V shaped front is typical of these bracelets. Attached is a "pendant" which sits on the front of the hand. The pendant measures 1-1/2" tall by 3/4" wide. It is marked "I. Yazzie Sterling" and weighs 9.1 grams. The Native American bracelet will fit an average wrist, 6"-6-1/2". Condition is excellent, showing only minor signs of use.
